Dogs Unleashed is one of several award-winning books we have worked on over the past few years. Designed in 2014, it was a 2015 Gold Medallist in the annual Ben Franklin Awards—alongside our Beatles book, Here, There and Everywhere, which also took a Gold in the same year.

This large reference work is organised into seven classic breed types, which range from Herding and Guarding Dogs to Terriers and “Designer Dogs”. In total, over 400 breeds from around the world, (including many rare and exotic examples) are explored in detail, with a final chapter devoted to mutts. There are over 1000 large cut-out colour photographs which work alongside information graphics displaying details of the breed history and character. Each breed’s temperament, intelligence and friendliness traits are all rated, along with grooming, training and exercise regimes. Finally, close-up pictures of coat characteristics and colour are shown. All these elements called for a design of direct simplicity, allowing important information to be seen at a glance. An extensive Glossary and Index complete the 320 page design.
